The location is negotiable, with several provisos.
It can take place in your home if you have a brightly lit area in your house, and/or a shady area outside. (Outdoor photos must be taken in shade!)
Or we can take family and children photos in a park in or near Central Melbourne. Some locations - for example some playground areas - are suitable only in the early morning or later afternoon. We can choose a location to suit your children - green and treed, or funky built spaces...
Dogs are relatively flexible, and we can discuss how controllable and amenable your dog might be in his favourite outdoor area, or we can take his photos at home.
Cats should be photographed in an area of their home in which they are especially comfortable. Before the shoot, this area should be made as clear of distracting clutter as possible.
The results will be better, and everyone will find the session more enjoyable if children are rested and fed beforehand. Babies are best photographed immediately after a feed - usually in the morning. Toddlers are often happiest immediately after a daytime nap!
We will get better photos if children are dressed in colours other than white or red, and if parents avoid black, white or red.
Better still, try to aim to have all family members in clothing of roughly the same toning - for example all in bright colours or all in pastels, all in muted colours, or all in clear colours.
It is also fun to bring a variety interesting extra gear for the kids - hats in both summer and winter, and scarves and hats in winter. Sometimes we get fantastic shots of children in "dress-ups" too. Babies and toddlers often look cutest in a beanie or other headgear.
